Battle of New Orleans

The Battle of New Orleans event includes living history experiences such as, cannon firing, children's activities, and campfire cooking at the Chalmette Battlefield National Park. Special evening events include the battle re-enactments. But, the Battle of New Orleans History is shared in many additional ways, with lecture series and national park tours throughout the year.

2019 Schedule

Friday, January 11th

  • The Daughters of the British Empire Wreath Laying Ceremony begins at 11:00 a.m. at the De La Ronde Ruins Historic Site on St. Bernard Highway.
  • Nunez Community College Lecture Series from 10:25 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Living History tours at Torres Park for schools 9:00-2:30

Saturday, January 12th

  • Lecture Series from 10:25 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the St. Bernard Council Chambers
  • Historic St. Bernard Parish tours from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
  • Living history tours and cannon firings at Torres Park

The St. Bernard Tourist Commission and the St. Bernard Office of Tourism will operate a Visitors Welcome Center at the St. Bernard Government Complex on Saturday, January 12th.
