This year’s festival promises exciting guided birding tours, local vendors, kids’ activities and educational talks from wildlife experts. Whether you’re a seasoned birder or just looking for a fun day outdoors, there’s something for everyone. Don’t miss your chance to flock together with fellow nature lovers!

FRIDAY MAY 2, 2025

9:00 am till        Birding Festival Begins (Students arrive early.)

4 pm           Bird Capture and Banding—Dr. Erik Johnson, Ph.D., Director of Conservation Science, Audubon Delta (Outdoor Pavilion) Woodcarving Exhibit (Inside Frank M. Fernandez Multi-Purpose

Building)

St. Bernard Art Guild (Inside Frank M. Fernandez Multi-Purpose Building)

Purple Martin Exhibit—Krista Adams (in Pavilion)

Common Ground Relief Wetlands, LLC—Christina Lehew (Frank M. Fernandez Multi-Purpose Building)

Airboat Tours of Waterbird Rookery (Big Mar) begin at 8 am—3 Tours a day—3 passengers per tour

10:00 am    *Guided Birding Tour begins led by Glenn Ousset (Outdoor Pavilion)

 

1:00 pm Presentation by Christina Lehew, Executive Director, Common Ground Relief Organization. The topic will be trees and native Plants and their benefits to migratory birds.

1:30 pm    *Guided Birding Tour Begins led by Glenn Ousset (Outdoor Pavilion)

 

1:30 pm           Guided Native Plant Walking Tour led by Linda van Aman (Outdoor Pavilion). Includes discussion of 2000 year old log

along the trail

 

4:00 pm              Bird Festival ends for today.

 

* All birding tours will begin at the Outdoor Pavilion and last approximately one hour. Birding sites are approximately three miles away from the Bird Festival grounds. Visitors must provide their own transportation.
